Having lived in their house for a few years, this busy Berlin family of four knew they wanted to transform their top floor which at the time was being used as a combination work and storage area.
With its views of the surrounding woods and park, the large, open plan space at the top of the house was ideal for their vision of a spacious and light master bedroom, en suite bathroom and dressing area. A refuge and place in which to detach and unwind.
Despite dividing up the open plan area, we were still able to take advantage of the windows on three sides resulting in a space flooded with light.
The built in closets in the dressing area with integrated makeup table add function and elegance while the repetition of the doors add another design element. Clutter is kept to a minimum and the organisation makes getting ready and out the door that much easier.
Mixing elements both high and low, a lot of thought went into creating a bright and elegant wellness area with a combination shower and steam bath. The custom vanity and large mirror with directly fitted wall sconce lighting combine to create a spa like atmosphere.
Opting for both modern and retro furniture, the antique wood of the bed, armoire and retro chairs provide a contrast with the reflective surfaces of the mirrored night tables and marble bathroom.
Cool grays and blues throughout balance the warmth of the furniture and existing parquet flooring. Adding visual interest with a unique pattern, the statement wallpaper leads up from the staircase wrapping around to the dressing area creating a seamless flow from one space to the other.
A personal retreat in which to slip away, breathe and recharge.
